Global warming is assuming alarming proportions and has become a cause for international concern. Over the past century the average global temperature has risen by more than one degree Fahrenheit. 

The exciting potential of jatropha in combating climate change (the use of jatropha biodiesel results in an estimated 70 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions) is commonly understood.

The jatropha curcas, a genus of tree whose seeds contain a high quality, non-edible oil, is one of the most exciting new potential sources of renewable energy in the world today.

We convened a Special Session on Climate Change in Port of Spain to discuss our profound concern about the undisputed threat that climate change poses to the security, prosperity, economic and social development of our people. 

Vigorous participation in development requires a special state of mind.  People must keep their present practice going as it is feeding their children and providing for their basic needs.
