Tourism

The development of a healthy tourism sector can put Commonwealth states at a real economic advantage. However, this section looks at combining a booming tourism industry with the need to conserve culture and buildings, so that national heritage is celebrated rather than eroded. The increasing importance of green tourism is also considered. More tourism brings more opportunities for the service industries and construction industries, possibly leading to new, iconic buildings and business hubs. Articles in this section consider how, if managed sustainably, tourism can be used a poverty reduction tool and lead to an overall improvement in quality of life for the affected community.
