Environment & Climate

The impacts of climate change, growth in urbanisation and overcrowded slums are having detrimental effects on some Commonwealth states’ economic and social development. This section includes articles that consider and promote sustainable uses of natural resources, and ways for countries to achieve economic growth without causing environmental damage that will be harmful to current and future generations. The need to alleviate poverty and raise standards of living is considered alongside the importance of environmental issues, such as conversation, ecosystems and biodiversity, to make recommendations that avoid the depletion of local environmental assets and reduce the likelihood of natural disasters.
