Sport as a vehicle for sustainable peace

The aftermath of armed conflicts, recurrent racial, ethnic and religious disputes, exaggerated nationalism, extreme poverty, juvenile delinquency, or simply the lack of social cohesion … Faced with recurring situations of social tension and even serious crises, governments and public authorities in the Commonwealth, as elsewhere, are in search of reliable and operational solutions, capable of positively influencing attitudes and behaviour, in order to restore conditions for sustainable peace.
