Educating girls: one of the most effective ways to address poverty

According to UNICEF, women do 67 per cent of the world’s work, but earn only 10 per cent of the world’s income. Educating girls might seem like a simple concept to honour, but in practice many girls lack the resources and support necessary to complete secondary education. In fact, over two-thirds of the world’s 796 million illiterate people are female. In this article, the author draws on first-hand experience as well as published sources to map out the most effective ways forward.
